Wrapping Up JMS 220

Now that we are closing in on Thanksgiving, it is safe to say the end of the semester is now in sight. I feel like this semester flew by yet also dragged on at the same time. With Covid-19 restricting in-person class, I really was not sure how I would handle this whole online school thing. JMS 220 has been one of the classes that happily surprised me. With lab meetings on zoom each Monday, this helped me stay ahead in the class and make sure I was budgeting my time properly. Once we started doing real assignments like news briefs and scripts, I had to allow more time in my schedule to complete these assignments. At first, it was sort of difficult to grasp writing in a more news-oriented format, but I feel like I have finally got the hang of it. I also really enjoyed learning about the specifics of formatting news briefs and scripts, as this was something I have never learned before. Overall, I definitely have gotten better at identifying the who what where when and why of news stories, and I feel like I am better at picking what I should include and exclude from my news briefs now.
